What has been a success? What looks good? - I find the Layout works well because it is clear and similar to other magazines in which I looked at, The text is also clear and the sub headings relates through the font to the masthead on the front cover - The Images relate to the articles/sections in the magazine and have page numbers on there so people can easily navigate to their favourite artists, also a short review is given to show the audience what they can expect.
What impact has your research had on the outcome of your 1st draft? - I looked at loads of magazines contents pages, a drew inspiration from there for the layout to add to mine e.g. 'Q' 'TOTP', 'J14' etc. Also, in the top-right corner it contains a "Editors Letter" which was also influenced by other articles which also had them, it keeps the Editor in contact with the audience to insure they're making the magazine for them personally.
What do you now need to do to improve your magazine? - The Editors letter box is in a block colour and doesn't work well, making it look tacky. Also there isn't enough pictures so making the page looking empty and leaving to much space free. The colour of the background is very random and doesn't relate to the Front Cover nor the Main article.
There is too much open space here.
ReplyDeleteI still don't believe the boxes full of text work. They make it look like a powerpoint presentation rather than a page of a magazine.
