Front Cover Analysis x3
I chose 3 magazine front covers that are in relevant to the genre that my Music Magazine will be (Pop-Rock), so i chose Q Magazine, Rolling Stones and Billboard Magazine. All of them where quite similar in layout but with the use (obviously) with different images incuding different artists and image position one using Head Shot, other using full-shot and other using mid shot, this gives me different aspects on which i could use for my Magazine front cover- how ceratin articles would be represented/given an importance, and how i could lay it out with the text, i also analysed the images and text to show my understanding towards what they represent, this will contribute to my magazine because i have to be aware that with the images i take and the text i use what it would represent to the audience and how i want my magazine to be taken, and is what i wanted to show being put across clearly.

What discoveries did you make about magazines themselves?
ReplyDelete-For the front covers, I discovered that the main images where central and either Full body, full face or mid shots as well as high quality, The language and typography where quite bold and simple and the Mast Head was Large and Clearly outlined the name/concept of the magazine, also the Left side third suggested the genre/stories included in the magazine. The stories/adverts are sometimes capitalised to grab attention and/or Exclusives so it suggests you can only read that certain story in this magazine as well as the use of advertisements for free items/competitions.
How will this impact on the magazine that you are creating?
- I will take this all into consideration and do it quite similar so it is familiar to the audience that would be buying my type of magazine. Keeping the masthead clear and simple so it is easily read and recognizable, as well as the main image being central and high quality for the reader. I will also take advantage of free items/advertisements for competitions and exclusive as this will boast the popularity for the magazine.
